Why were so many empire-shaking battles fought at Panipat?

The third battle of Panipat was fought in 1761. Why were so many empire-shaking battles fought at Panipat?

Where do the visitors stand the maximum time before entering the house of somebody?!
At the doors!!

What is the doorway to India, when you come from the north-west?
Pakistan, Punjab the borders!

Delhi is sandwiched between the dry deserts in the south west, and Himalayas in the north east. If you are invader from the North east, where will u knock at Delhi? You can’t come all around thru the desert. For that u need to carry lots of food and provisions. Armies move with less load to move fast!
Armies can’t climb Himalayas easily to knock on Delhi

Other than these two, if possible!! To move through, Batinda, Kaithal, Panipet and Delhi!!! The Delhi forces won’t wait till they come to Delhi fort. They will try to stop them at a distance which can be travelled by the horses in a day without getting tired! Around 50 kms!

That’s how Panipat has become the virtual gate! Which was defended by every king who sat in Delhi!
Now, think: where was such point when the kings from Delhi or north India invaded south India?!

When you move from north to south, you face the deep forests. So, the easy way was to go around them in the west. So, it’s first the Narmada. When you cross that, you come to Tungabhadra
