Security of tenure of civil servants Red Sir, Article 311 provides safeguard to Indian civil servants? Then how Sujata singh can be removed without any inquiry or giving any reason publicly?
there is a difference between removed from service and removed from post. the civil servant holds the post only at the pleasure of the president (through his name, the central govt).
Sujatha Singh was removed from post n she chose to resign consequent to it
Dr Jaishankar was appointed a day before he was supposed to retire. Those two years of extension as a secretory is given as an exception? With respect to appointment to the post of foreign Secretary sir
Ppl appointed to service are supposed to retire on superannuation... extension of service of a particular officer is a discretion of govt.. Mostly on spl needs... practically rarely given...
there is nothing on art 311 for the above two issues in order to be clear.
