Dual Citizenship in India, Pros & Cons

Q: Citizenship Red We have a dual government which authenticates the federal nature of the constitution. Can we have dual citizenship in India? Will it help in protecting the diversity of India? I can think of many hinders, are there any benefits?
Priyanka why first of all thoughts about dual citizenship? And what is the relationship between protection of diversity and dual citizenship?
As I read, dual citizenship in USA is citizenship for the nation and citizenship for individual states

Ok now tell me, Is "single citizenship"  the basic feature of constitution or not?
Since our states are divided based on linguistic preferences, i was wondering if the citizenship will help to protect linguistic differences.
No way,  Priyanka its a radical and revolutionary thought as far as our country is considered. remember our country is still a country in the making.
Moreover ours is not federation of states like USA. where all came into an agreement and formed a nation. Ours is union of state where a whole country is formed geographically and politically then divided into states.
Q: will it be right to say that "dual citizenship" will divide the country more than unite it?
Definitely divide it. Ours is a indestructible union with destructible states. That "indestructible" means only one country!
And I would say dual citizen ship is for a completely federal state. Ours is a strongly unionistic one with lesser federal features. And for our country's nature and history the fashion concept of dual citizenship does not hold good!

The question of dual citizenship has to be approached from three perspectives:
1. What you need one? What advantage will it give? Pros and cons.
2. The historical underpinnings in those places where there are dual citizenships.
3. Why our constitution did not go for it?
First: The cons outweigh the pros. The only pro is that it gives space for regional aspirations, by giving them an identity. But, on the negative side, it will dilute the unity. For a country like India, which is already divided on so many identities, this will give a strong platform to raise voice agaisn the union. Remember the ANti-hindi movement in TN.
Second: Historically, dual citizenship came when the independent states came together. They did not want to lose their origianl identity. So, it was natural for them to continue their citizenship. Its like, if tomorrow India joins a forum like EU, it would definetly retain its citizenship!
Third: When the constitution was made, and when India attained independence, though the British gave the choice to the kingdoms, India went ahead with unification, with whatever tool it had in its hand, including force. It was felt that, allowing anybody to stand independent would be dangerous to the Indian state! Also, the hitorically, india had unifying empires, and thus, the unificaton become easy! Talk of dual citizenship would have been an antithesis at that time!
