cold war scenario still exists but there is a thaw in Indo-US ties"- Foreign Secretary. Explain?

Our foreign sec meant that we are still in a cold war(post ww 2) mindset, which acts as an obstacle in indo-US ties. We still see the US with caution and slight distrust.. Though the clod war is over, this mentality of a trust deficit still exists between the US and India. Thaw--- the relationship is becoming more friendly.. Though the cold war mentality exists, the areas of convergence (common objective) between US and India have increased.. Containing China is one such area( though the diplomats don't mention it openly.. They rather call it 'rebalancing in Asia' or other such euphemisms)
